Homemade Big Mac


  • Big Mac Special Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • sesame seed buns
  • sliced cheddar cheese
  • white onion (diced)
  • iceberg lettuce (shredded)
  • pickles

Step 1

Make the Big Mac Special Sauce about an hour before cooking.

Step 2

Prepare your buns. As most of us know, the Big Mac has 3 parts to their bunification. It requires 1 1/2 buns to achieve this. Use one bun as normal (top and bottom) and the other bun will be split in half to work as the center piece. Cut the seeds / top off the second bun so you can use that as a center part.

Step 3

Finely dice your onions and shred the lettuce (as Ronald does).

Step 4

Cook burger as desired. Season with salt and pepper. See Burger Lab’s Top Ten Tips for Making Better Burgers.

Step 5

Now for the assembly (from the bottom up):

  • the bottom bun
  • a tblsp or so of special sauce
  • diced onions
  • shredded lettuce
  • slice of cheddar cheese
  • one burger patty
  • the middle bun
  • a tblsp or so of special sauce
  • a few diced onions
  • 2 or 3 pickles
  • shredded lettuce
  • one burger patty
  • the top bun
